L-C Valley Habitat for Humanity to offer homebuyer education classes
L-C Valley Habitat for Humanity (LCV HFH) is happy to announce they are offering Finally Home! homebuyer education course, in partnership with the Moscow Affordable Housing Trust. The 6-hour course walks participants through all important stages and processes of homebuying including budgeting and credit, working with a real estate agent, obtaining loan financing, home inspection, and what to expect at closing. Because it was developed by Idaho Housing and Finance, the program is HUD approved and meets or exceeds most loan program requirements.
Research has shown that people who received pre-purchase housing counseling were 1/3 less likely to fall seriously behind on their mortgages. LCV HFH recommends anyone interested in applying for participation on their Affordable Home Ownership Program in the future consider taking this course as it will help applicants be in a better position to apply when the time comes.
The Finally Home! Homebuyer education classes consist of seven chapters that guide participants through the home buying process and empower them to make informed homeownership choices. Upon completion of the course, class members receive a certificate as proof of participation.
Classes are open to all residents. The course will be offered Tuesday, April 20 and Wednesday, April 21 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. LCV HFH recommends anyone interested in applying for its Affordable Home Ownership Program (AHOP) in the future consider taking this course, as it will help applicants submit stronger AHOP applications. The class will be held at the Lewiston Idaho Housing and Finance Association conference room, 2338 Nez Perce Drive, opposite of Home Depot. Cost is only $15 per person, and scholarships are available by calling Deb at 208-792-7568.
