L-C Valley Habitat for Humanity to offer homebuyer education classes
L-C Valley Habitat for Humanity (LCV HFH) is happy to announce they are offering Finally Home! home buyer education course, in partnership with the Moscow Affordable Housing Trust. The 6-hour course walks participants through all important stages and processes of home buying including budgeting and credit, working with a real estate agent, obtaining loan financing, home inspection, and what to expect at closing. Because it was developed by Idaho Housing and Finance, the program is HUD approved and meets or exceeds most loan program requirements.
Research has shown that people who received prepurchase housing counseling were 1/3 less likely to fall seriously behind on their mortgages. LCVHFH recommends anyone interested in applying for participation on their Affordable Home Ownership Program (AHOP) in the future consider taking this course as it will help applicants be in a better position to apply when the time comes.
The Finally Home! Home buyer education classes consist of seven chapters that guide participants through the home buying process and empower them to make informed home ownership choices. Upon completion of the course, class members receive a certificate as proof of participation.
This free class ($50 value) is open to all residents, but preregistration is required. If not enough registrations are received the weekend prior to the class date, the session will be cancelled. For more information or to register for a class, please click here, call (509) 878-7369 or email.
